Joycelin Hunter joins Orchard House as Director of Academics and Student Programs, bringing eleven years of experience teaching and leading in middle school education across multiple countries. In this role, she provides both strategic vision and day-to-day leadership for academic and student programs, ensuring that teaching, learning, and student life are aligned with Orchard House's mission and educational philosophy.
Joycelin loves middle school for the unique, playful energy students bring each day and for the joy of helping them blossom into themselves. She is passionate about education that sparks inquiry, fosters critical analysis, encourages collaboration, and empowers students to take ownership of their learning. She is deeply motivated by Orchard House's proven success in empowering adolescent girls, and fostering students who care about their local and global communities. Outside of school, Joycelin can be found hiking with her dog, exploring Richmond with her husband and their young son, or continuing her quest to try all Richmond's best sandwich shops.
