Accelerated Study
Girls in seventh and eighth grades have the option of accelerating in English. Given the application policies of some high schools, independent study work in English will be denoted as 8th grade English for seventh graders and 9th grade English for eighth graders. This development is only true for English. Credit for English 9 will vary from one high school to another. A student's decision to pursue accelerated work should be interest based, not strategic. Although girls will gain a heightened sense of intellectual achievement and purpose, they should choose to participate because they want to explore a subject in greater depth. Girls in accelerated English are expected to attend additional classes and to complete additional coursework.
