Independent Study
Students in the seventh and eighth grades may pursue independent studies in English, history, Latin, math, science, Spanish, and the arts. Independent study work allows girls to explore topics in more scope and depth, and provides further opportunities for personal and intellectual growth. Their independent projectsare shared with the school community in some fashion for the enrichment of all.
Options vary by teacher and subject and exploration is guided by student interest.
A student's decision to pursue independent work should be interest based, not strategic. Although girls will gain a heightened sense of intellectual achievement and purpose, they should choose to participate because they want to explore a subject in greater depth.
